Talking About Humber Mouth – Hull Literature Festival

Humber Mouth Hull’s annual Literature Festival starts November 6 and continues over 10 days in the city. A good friend asked me this week why it was called Humber Mouth. I responded that we live beside the Humber Estuary and Humber Mouth is about bringing many different voices to the city, to share their love for and encourage engagement with, the written and spoken word. Nov 6th Humber Mouth Launch Night will take place at Central Library 6pm and is free to all. Costa Award Winner At University Festival of Writing

From Press Release: Costa Prize-winning author Nathan Filer is guest speaker for the inaugural Sixth-Form Festival of Writing 2015, at the University of Hull this Friday (September 25th).

nathan filerMr Filer’s best-selling novel The Shock of the Fall won the 2013 Costa Book of the Year and the 2014 Betty Trask Prize and has been lauded as one of the most important literary examinations of mental health in the 21st century. It describes the life of a boy from Bristol dealing with his grief at the death of his brother and his experience of mental health care services for schizophrenia.

The guest lecture, which is also free to attend for the general public, starts at 6pm and follows the Universitys first ever Sixth-From Festival of Writing with nearly 300 pupils from schools across the Humber region.

If interested, feel free to attend reading at 6pm which is in the Allam Lecture Theatre at Hull University.

Bid To Support Local Authors

The difference between a published author and an unpublished one is that the former didn’t give up.’ These words were said to me at the book fair showcasing local writers, the first of its kind, held at Hull Central Library.
