It seems like only yesterday we were standing at 8am inside Hull Truck awaiting the big announcement. The city collectively held its breath, and then jumped for joy when we realised we’d got it. Hull was going to be UK City of Culture. Underdogs for most of the way, never really given a chance but with such a massive impact and effort from the city for #HullYes campaign we proved that there really is more to us than some people thought. Beverley Road is to get a new gallery called GROUND in 2016, during a steady build up of arts and cultural provision, as we move towards the City of Culture year. Taking Martin Green Hull2017 CEO at his word when he said at a public meeting, ‘You don’t need permission to be part of City of Culture,’ – a group of Hull artists have grabbed the opportunity with both hands and are due to open Ground in the new year.
It appears many are still unaware that Hull International Photography Festival, is taking place right now in the city, despite it being picked up by major arts and culture publications this week, including The Guardian. Continue reading

I can think of few better places than Thieving Harry’s on the corner of Humber Street to invite interested parties to come together to discuss the brand identity for 2017. With the sun streaming through the windows, it was just a shame that we had to spend three hours upstairs eating brownies and drinking Thieving Harry’s renowned coffee. Continue reading
